mCare Digital is excited to introduce the mCareWatch Dual 261, a new personal alarm watch and pendant designed to provide flexible, everyday safety for older Australians and people living with disability.
Launching as the newest addition to the mCareWatch range, the mCareWatch Dual 261 gives users the freedom to wear their personal alarm in the way that feels most comfortable to them, either as a smartwatch on the wrist or as a pendant around the neck.
With advanced features including FallProtect automatic fall detection, non-movement alerts, GPS location and CHOICE-rated geofencing, the Dual 261 offers additional protection without making everyday use unnecessarily complicated.
A Personal Alarm Designed Around Everyday Life
As the mCareWatch range has grown, so too has the feedback we’ve received from older Australians, NDIS participants, families and care providers.
For some people, a simple SOS and GPS personal alarm provides everything they need. Others require more advanced wellness monitoring and support.
But there is also a group looking for something in between.
They want greater protection through features such as automatic fall detection and advanced location tools, while still having a device that is straightforward and comfortable to use every day.
The mCareWatch Dual 261 was created with these people in mind.
“As we’ve expanded the mCareWatch range, we’ve heard a clear message from our customers and partners – they want flexible devices that fit the realities of everyday life,”
said Peter Apostolopoulos, Co-Founder and Managing Director of mCare Digital.
“The mCareWatch Dual 261 has the same advanced fall detection and geofencing technology as our premium G11, but in a simpler form factor that can be worn as a watch or pendant.”
Wear It as a Watch or Personal Alarm Pendant
One of the defining features of the Dual 261 is its flexibility.
Every device is supplied with detachable watch bands as well as a soft silicone pendant cover and magnetic lanyard attachment.
This allows the wearer to switch between using the Dual 261 as a personal alarm watch and wearing it around the neck as a personal alarm pendant.
This can be particularly useful for people who find watches uncomfortable, experience dexterity challenges or simply prefer wearing a pendant at different times of the day.
One personal alarm can adapt to the wearer’s needs rather than requiring them to choose one style permanently.
Automatic Fall Detection for Greater Peace of Mind
The Dual 261 includes FallProtect automatic fall detection and non-movement alerts, providing an additional safety net if the wearer experiences a fall and is unable to manually press the SOS button.
FallProtect includes adjustable sensitivity and false-fall rejection and can automatically check whether the wearer is okay before initiating help calls if there is no response.
For older adults and people living with disability-related falls risk, this provides another layer of reassurance alongside the device’s manual SOS function.
Advanced GPS and CHOICE-Rated Geofencing
The mCareWatch Dual 261 is powered by 4G and GPS and incorporates mCare Digital’s advanced geofencing technology.
The technology was rated number one in the CHOICE Personal Alarms Review.
Caregivers can create multiple safe zones with customised boundaries and entry or exit alerts. This can help families and care teams support people at risk of wandering while maintaining as much independence as possible.
Location information and device settings can be accessed through the mCare Digital ConnectiveCare mobile app and web portal.
Up to Six SOS Contacts
When an emergency occurs, reaching the right person quickly matters.
The Dual 261 can place emergency calls sequentially to up to six nominated SOS contacts, which can include family members, carers or support workers.
This increases the likelihood of reaching someone who can respond when assistance is needed.
Up to six caregivers can also access ConnectiveCare to help coordinate support and manage the device.
More Everyday Safety Features
Alongside its core personal safety features, the mCareWatch Dual 261 includes:
- Heart rate and observational blood oxygen monitoring
- Up to three medication and routine reminders per day
- Voice and on-screen reminders
- IP67 showerproof design
- Auto-answer functionality
- Call blocking
- Low-battery alerts
- Multiple watch faces
- Detachable watch bands
The result is a modern personal alarm designed to provide meaningful safety features while remaining simple enough for everyday use.
Where Does the Dual 261 Fit in the mCareWatch Range?
The Dual 261 sits between the mCareWatch 241SE and mCareWatch G11.
mCareWatch 241SE – Essential Safety
Our smallest and lightest option, providing core SOS and GPS functionality with up to three SOS contacts. It is designed for lower-risk users who want straightforward personal protection.
mCareWatch Dual 261 – Flexible Safety
A mid-tier option that can be worn as a watch or pendant and adds FallProtect, advanced geofencing and support for up to six contacts and licences.
mCareWatch G11 – Advanced Safety
Our premium smartwatch alarm, offering additional features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Voice Assist, welfare check-ins and continuous wellness tracking for people with more complex care requirements.
The addition of the Dual 261 means individuals, families and care providers can choose the level of support that most closely reflects their needs.
Supporting Independence Without Adding Complexity
For mCare Digital, developing the Dual 261 wasn’t simply about adding more technology.
It was about identifying the features that families and care providers value while keeping the experience accessible for the person actually wearing the device.
“Families and support coordinators have told us they need more than a basic alarm – they need fall detection, better location tools and the ability to share care across multiple people, but they don’t want to overwhelm their clients with technology they won’t use,”
said Paul Apostolis, Co-Founder of mCare Digital.
Like other devices in the mCareWatch range, the Dual 261 connects with mCare Digital’s Australian-developed ConnectiveCare platform, allowing caregivers to access real-time location information, configure settings and monitor device status.
Introducing the mCareWatch Dual 261
The mCareWatch Dual 261 will be available as part of the mCareWatch range for private purchase, NDIS participants, Home Care Package clients and aged care providers.
It provides a new option for people looking for more than a basic personal alarm, without needing all of the advanced functionality of the G11.
Most importantly, its watch-and-pendant design gives people greater choice over how personal safety fits into their everyday lives.
