Features & Benefits

Everybody deserves to live their potential regardless of their limitations.

The mCareWatch personal alarm has been successfully integrated into lives of families with disabled children and young adults, dementia patients and adults who acquired a disability later in life. As a registered NDIS provider, we’ve helped thousands of people with disability live a fulfilling life.

In addition, the mCareWatch has been supporting the elderly live independently and with confidence knowing they have access to loved ones and emergency services when required.

Is the mCareWatch-241 suitable for someone with dementia?

Below are four questions that you should be able to answer “YES” to, before you purchase the mCareWatch-241.

1. Does the potential user normally wear a watch?

Why? This will make it easier for the user to swap from their existing watch to the mCareWatch-241.

2. Does the mCareWatch-241 look like a watch they would be happy to wear?

Why? The mCareWatch-241 looks like a sports watch and is larger than a traditional female watch. If they prefer smaller size watches than it may become an issue to convince them to start wearing the mCareWatch-241.

3. Are they likely to keep wearing the watch if they don't comprehend/recall why they have it?

Why? It’s important the user wears the watch to benefit from our service.

4. Will they remember to put the watch on if it has been on the recharger?

If the answer is “NO”, is there a carer/family member who can and will be responsible for charging the watch every day?

If you’ve answered YES to all four questions, the mCareWatch-241 is likely to be suitable for use.

Set up and ready to use

All devices are pre-set with the SOS contacts, a SIM card is pre-installed and device is ready to use.

How will that benefit me?

No need for carers to pre-set contacts, install SIM card and add credit. Device is ready to use and will operate as required with no need to monitor SIM card credit nor setup SOS contacts by sending SMS commands which may compromise your security and personal data.

Magnetic recharger base

Every watch includes an easy-to-use Magnetic Recharger base, USB cable and power adaptor.

How will that benefit me?

Simple, quick, and easy to charge will ensure the wearer or carer will have no issue making sure their watch is recharged and ready to use.

Auto answer and chat

Any pre-set contact listed on the device can call into the device, ring once and then auto-answer with the caller able to speak to the wearer.

How will that benefit me?

No requirement for the wearer to touch any buttons to answer an incoming call and especially if the wearer is incapacitated and unable to press any buttons.

GPS and Wi-Fi location tracking

Device includes GPS and Wi-Fi technologies, which provide the location of the wearer via the carer’s web portal and mobile app.

How will that benefit me?

Ability to locate the wearer both outdoors and indoors via an easy-to-use web portal and mobile app and no requirement to send SMS text command message to receive map location (like other pendants).

Medication and task reminders

Carers can setup customised medication and task reminders for the wearer (via carer’s Mobile App).

How will that benefit me?

Device will automatically send and notify wearer of any medication and task reminders.

Long battery life

With default settings the device can achieve 3 days battery life.

How will that benefit me?

Wearer will not need to recharge their device every day which is common for 4G smartwatch devices.

Speed dial contacts

Wearer can automatically call pre-set contacts by pressing on Speed dial contact name and number.

How will that benefit me?

Device will automatically dial the Speed Dial contacts, making it easy for wearer to get in contact with loved one or carer.

Geo-fence

Rated # 1 Geo-fence in the CHOICE ‘Personal Alarms Review’, you can set up a geo-fence perimeter.

How will that benefit me?

mCare Geo-fence feature will send an alert to the SOS contacts when the device exits the pre-set geo-fence zone, which can be configured on the web portal.

Provides an alert notification to nominated SOS contacts when the wearer exits the geo-fence. SOS contacts will also receive an alert when the device is back inside of the geo-fence.

Water resistant

IP67 shower proof

How will that benefit me?

The mCareWatch is water resistant and can be worn in the shower.

4G mobile network coverage

Every device has a pre-installed SIM card with a mobile number.

How will that benefit me?

Wearer will not need to carry a smartphone around with them. The watch is standalone mobile phone can make and receive calls.

Automatic SOS calls to pre-set contacts

Up to three contact numbers (mobile or landline) can be pre-set on the device, when the SOS button is activated.

How will that benefit me?

Device automatically dials the pre-set contacts and also will provide an alert (SMS) to pre-set contacts when an SOS call was made.

On demand location

The carer’s web portal and mobile app can provide the latest location of the wearer by simply pressing the on demand button.

How will that benefit me?

Carers can receive the real-time location of the wearer within seconds.

Fall detection alert & sensitivity adjustment

When the device detects a fall, it will ask the wearer if they are OK and if they do not respond the device will automatically call the SOS preset contacts. NOTE: this feature will drain the battery and require more frequent recharging of the device. Important: This feature cannot detect all falls.

How will that benefit me?

SOS contacts can be called automatically without the wearer pressing any buttons, if the device detects a sudden fall. Device will also send an SMS alert to carers if it detects a fall. Carers can also adjust the sensitivity via the carer’s portal lowering the false positives that may be generated.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Battery draining

The watch must remain operational throughout the day, which means it’s constantly active. This contributes to a quicker depletion of the battery, and 3 days battery life will not be possible.

Fall Detection Accuracy

The fall detection feature is dependent on the sensitivity of the sensors and the wearer’s specific situation. It might not always accurately identify every fall, leading to potential false negatives. This makes this feature a reliable companion, but it is not failsafe and cannot detect every fall.

Tip

It’s vital for users to view the fall detection feature as a valuable aid rather than a failsafe. If the wearer is not incapacitated, they can activate an SOS call. When activated, the SOS button initiates calls to the pre-set SOS contacts in case of an emergency, ensuring immediate assistance.

Non-movement alerts

When the device detects no physical movement from the wearer, the watch will conduct a Welfare Check and make an SOS call if there is no response or acknowledgement from the wearer.

How will that benefit me?

If the wearer is incapacitated and unable to press the SOS button or respond to the welfare check, the watch will still be able to call the SOS contacts without the need for the wearer to press any buttons.

Carer's web-portal & mobile app

Access to mCare’s ConnectiveCare web portal and Mobile app, which allows carers to connect and access the device anywhere and anytime.

How will that benefit me?

Unlike other personal alarms, carers are able to change, update and configure the device settings via the web portal and not by sending SMS commands, which are a security flaw and allow anyone else to access the device information and location details.

Anti-disturb call block feature

The device can be set to only allow incoming calls from the pre-set and authorised contacts.

How will that benefit me?

Eliminates spam calls from unauthorised callers (e.g. telemarketers).
